Challenge  Order processing at Beck Group relied on manual work and staff experience, from choosing a carrier for each order to closing it out across multiple systems at the end of the process. The process was time-consuming, repetitive and difficult to scale.

Outcome  Alrik uses AI to recommend the most suitable carrier for each order and automates the flow of information end to end across systems, cutting admin time by 2.5 hours a day.

Smarter carrier decisions

Before Alrik, carrier selection relied on manual decision-making and employee experience. Alrik's AI now recommends the most suitable carrier for each order automatically, helping Beck make more consistent transport decisions while reducing manual work.

The team quickly built confidence in the recommendations, allowing them to spend less time on transport choices and more time focusing on higher-value activities.

Systems that talk to each other

What used to mean manually exporting and re-entering order data between systems now happens automatically. Orders flow from the ERP into Alrik and on to the warehouse without anyone retyping the same information twice. Once an order is picked, that information feeds straight back, instead of the team closing out orders by hand. Beck can also see invoiced totals in real time.

The result is a saving of 2.5 hours of administration every day, while creating a process that can scale as the business grows. As Lyndon puts it:

It takes the human out of the transport decision. It helps us make better decisions on transport, and it automates repetitive tasks. Now we have a scalable solution: as we grow in orders, we don't have to keep adding more people and overheads.

Seeing what a delivery really costs

Beck never had an accurate read on carriage cost per order. Alrik now shows it for every delivery — a foundation Lyndon wants to build on for emissions reporting.

Beck is now working with Alrik to bring carrier tracking data from its 3PL back into the platform, so customers can track their own delivery with Alrik's track and trace instead of calling for an update.

Why Alrik

For Lyndon, the decision came down to a few things: "Other vendors don't quite do what Alrik does. They're more about pulling the data, and you still have to select the carrier yourself." The AI selection, the auto-tagging and Alrik's focus on the construction industry decided it, as did the architecture: "Rather than being tied to a specific system, it's all done by API. So if we do change providers, we can swap to someone else."

The work isn't treated as a one-off project. There's scope to extend it further, and Beck intends to.

Even though we've been around a long time, we don't want to be stuck in our ways. We're looking for the next thing that can get us to hit the next milestone.
